Cancer Survivor Beats the Odds—Then Does It Again (Twice)
How One Woman’s Triple Lottery Win Is Inspiring Hope and High Fives Around the Globe

Most people consider themselves lucky to win the lottery once. For some, even matching a single number is reason to celebrate. But for one woman, who already beat cancer, winning the lottery wasn’t a once-in-a-lifetime miracle—it was a triple feature.
Meet Linda Withers, a 64-year-old grandmother from Minnesota who’s now unofficially known as The Luckiest Woman Alive.
First, She Beat Cancer
Linda’s streak of survival started three years ago when she was diagnosed with Stage 3 ovarian cancer. Through rounds of treatment, support from her tight-knit family, and what she calls “grit and grace,” she came out cancer-free in early 2024.
“I already felt like the jackpot winner,” she told her local news station. “But the universe wasn’t done with me.”
Then, She Beat the Lottery... Three Times
In the past 12 months, Linda has won not once, not twice, but three separate lottery prizes:
July 2024: $10,000 from a scratch-off ticket.
January 2025: $50,000 in a local Powerball draw.
June 2025: A whopping $250,000 prize from a second-chance draw.
That’s a total of $310,000 in winnings in under a year.
She credits her victories to a combination of routine (“I always use the same gas station”) and a little post-cancer superstition. “I figure if I can survive that, I can survive anything—even the odds.”
What She’s Doing With the Money
Instead of buying a yacht or disappearing to a tropical island (though she admits a beach trip is in the works), Linda is investing in her community. She’s donated to the local cancer treatment center, paid off her grandson’s college debt, and started a fund to help single moms with childcare costs.
“I wanted to be a blessing, not just get one,” she said.
A Message of Hope
Linda’s story isn’t just about winning money. It’s about resilience, belief, and living with joy after hardship.
“If I can go from the chemo ward to the winner’s circle, anyone can,” she said. “Your luck can change at any moment. Mine just happened to come in glittering waves.”
